Best Time to See the Churchill Polar Bears - Churchill is widely known as the southern most limit of the Polar Bears range and also one of the largest Polar Bear denning areas of the world. Located on the shores of Hudson Bay the ice melts completely by the end of July or beginning of August and it is for this reason that the Polar Bears must therefore retreat to solid land. Once on land they are not actually hunting and therefore during this time they survive on fat reserves that they have stored up over the months of plenty.
As the temperatures drop again, Hudson Bay begines to freeze up from the western shores and then along the coast towards Cape Churchill. During these days more and more Polar Bears gather in this region and this provides some of the best Polar Bear Viewing in the world. There is no peak Polar Vear Viewing time however the best months to see Polar Bears at Churchill are from mid-October to mid-November. Best Time to See the Grizzly Bears of British Columbia - the Grizzlies of Bella Coola, British Columbia are a sight to behold as they fish the Atnarko River. This is a time of the year when the Grizzlies come specifically to this area for the spawning salmon; it does not last long but is definitely a sight to behold. The best time to see Grizzly Bears at Bella Coola is from the end of August and through September. A slim timeline of 4 - 6 weeks emans it is easy to miss but when you get it right there is a lot to see!
Best Time to See the Kodiak Grizzly Bears - this unique experience is best viewed during the months of July and August. A fantstic photographic opportunity as the bears fish and fight in Katmai National Park. A narrow window of approximately 6 - 8 weeks offers you some of the best Grizzly Bear viewing. These Grizzlies are some of the biggest out there!
